Heidelberg Wind Ensemble

The Heidelberg Wind Ensemble was established in 2007 with the vision of giving opportunities for highly skilled musicians to play interesting and challenging works for this instrumentation, especially those written during the 20th Century.

The basic idea was to have one player per part, giving a total of 35-40 musicians, so that the timbre and balance of the ensemble will allow the music to be heard as its composer intended.

Since of course we want the selected music to be presented at its very best, players must be skilled and, preferably, experienced in ensemble playing.

Another aim of this ensemble is to perform frequently with guest artists and thus provide a platform for the many talented young musicians in Melbourne to show their skills in performance and gain invaluable experience. Naturally this also gives local music-lovers a chance to hear a wide range of music which would otherwise go unheard.

New members are most welcome.  An annual membership fee is payable and by joining, you become a member of the Heidelberg Orchestras Inc..

The HWE will be performing at several venues this year including combined performances with the HSO and other ensembles.
